Timbers Terminate Corporate Sponsorship With DaBella
Court filings from February 23rd revealed allegations not previously known to the Timbers.
After just three months, the partnership between DaBella and the Timbers organization comes to an end.
A new lawsuit brings to light allegations of unwanted advances toward female employees from DaBella’s CEO Donnie McMillan Jr, as reported from The Oregonian’s Ryan Clark.
According to the press release, the Timbers organization didn’t know about the allegations until yesterday the 27th, even after a pre-deal vetting process was completed before the sponsorship announcement in November.
The press release states “This decision was rooted in the responsibility we have to our fans, supporters, partners and employees to transparently reflect and uphold the values and expectations of our community.”.
Initial fan reaction has been positive. Many had negative reactions to DaBella and their business practices and the organization’s swift response has shown growth for the club given previous scandals.
It’s likely the Timbers will be without a sponsor for the next couple of months at least. Fan favorites to be featured on the front of the shirt include Tillamook and Dutch Bros who are already present on the training gear.
Fanatics will provide a refund for kits purchased with the DaBella sponsorship, even if custom. Local outfits PTFC Authentics and Tursi Soccer have already dropped the new kits from their storefronts.
The Timbers face D.C United at Providence Park Saturday, March 2nd at Providence Park with a projected 7:30pm kickoff time.
Every Timbers fan just had their wish granted to get rid of the sketchy contractor with the butterfly logo... I guess it's a "Space For Rent" ad on the kits!
